On March 20, 2023, twenty-three-year-old Joshua Zinner tragically passed away from fentanyl poisoning. He had struggled with a years long addiction to sports gambling, and was taking steps toward recovery. As North Carolina legislators have legalized sports gambling and are considering expanding other forms of legalized gambling across the state, many are concerned about the impact this will have on individuals and families. Josh’s dad, Cliff, is speaking out to tell his story and warn legislators about the potential consequences that could result from the further proliferation of gambling in North Carolina.
