NC Family has just received confirmation from the office of U.S. Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) that recent efforts in Congress to include a provision in the Omnibus Appropriations Bill that would have paved the way for a massive Indian gambling casino west of Charlotte have been averted.

Earlier this week, NC Family was alerted to a major push in Congress by South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham to add language to the Omnibus Appropriations Bill that would assist the South Carolina-based Catawba Indian Nation to establish an enormous 220,000 square foot Las Vegas-style gambling casino along the I-85 corridor in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, just west of Charlotte. Such a casino would cannibalize the local economy and would be a scourge on North Carolina, our government, and our families.
