January marks the 43rd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, which forced the legalization of abortion on all states across the nation and has resulted in the death of over 55 million unborn children. In remembrance of this tragic event, and in acknowledgement of the sanctity of human life, there will be numerous opportunities this month for North Carolinians to take a stand for the cause of Life, including: Sanctity of Human Life Sunday in your churches, North Carolina Right to Life’s Prayer Breakfast in Raleigh, and the National March for Life in Washington, D.C.
NC Right to Life Prayer Breakfast: Tickets are still available to attend the North Carolina Right to Life prayer breakfast on January 16 in Raleigh that will feature Duck Dynasty stars Alan and Lisa Robertson. Following the breakfast, a rally and march will take place on Halifax Mall, where participants can demonstrate a commitment to protecting unborn children. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Raleigh is also sponsoring a Love My Life Youth Rally at 10:30 a.m. and a Mass for Life at 12 noon, also on the Halifax Mall.
Sanctity of Human Life Sunday: Pastors and churches may wish to observe Sanctity of Human Life Sunday on either January 17 or 24. You can find helpful resources, including downloadable bulletin inserts, merchandise, and sample email and social media content on the Sanctity of Human Life Sunday website.
National March for Life: Busloads of pro-life supporters will head to our nation’s capital for the annual National March for Life on January 22. The Rally and March for Life will take place at the Washington Monument beginning at 11:45 a.m., with the march concluding at the steps of the United States Supreme Court. At that time, men and women affected by abortion will give their testimonies as part of the “Silent No More” campaign. Other related events include:
