A dangerous gambling bill is rapidly moving through the State Senate and we urgently need your help to stop this bill from becoming law!
SB 688–Sports Wagering would legalize wagering on collegiate, professional, amateur, and electronic sports. The bill passed the Senate Finance Committee this past Wednesday, and is scheduled to come before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday, August 9.

We must stand against this dangerous gambling expansion in North Carolina! As NC Family President John L. Rustin warned in his statement to the Senate Finance Committee this week, “There are very high correlations between gambling addiction and increases in theft, embezzlement, job loss, personal bankruptcy, substance abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, divorce, and, yes, even suicide.”
“In addition to harming individual lives, marriages, and families,” Rustin continued, “Senate Bill 688 will degrade our state, which has an incredibly rich heritage in collegiate, amateur, and professional sports. With the passage of this bill, gambling—and not the games themselves—will become the centerpiece of sports competition in North Carolina.”
