What We Do
The North Carolina Family Policy Council is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit research and education organization. We are not a chapter or branch of any other organization. Our board of directors are outstanding citizens from across North Carolina. The research and education efforts we conduct are independent from other organizations.
Research We are on the cutting edge of providing research on public policy issues that affect the family to policy makers at the state, national and local levels. Citizens of all ages find our information timely and informative. We also publish our policy papers separately as "Findings." Our weekly radio show , "Family Policy Matters," is a resource of timely interviews with researchers, authors and noted personalities, where you can hear directly from the experts on issues that affect you and your family.
Education
After the research is done, educating members of the North Carolina General Assembly and other citizens of our state is of paramount importance. Our aim is to provide research materials and information which enables citizens and policy makers to be fully informed on issues that impact the family. Legislative decisions form the framework of our society and are a powerful influence on the family. Our Major Speakers Series brings nationally recognized experts to our state to engage with us to educate and inform about the issues. In addition to our policy papers, many of our research findings are reported in our bimonthly magazine Family North Carolina.
Community Impact
Our goal is not only to do quality research and communicate those findings to citizens of our state, but to equip citizens to become a force for good in their communities. To that end, we work closely with individuals, with churches and various groups of citizens to help them know how to respond more effectively to public policy issues. Many of the resources on this website will help you in this regard.
