Life Chain Honors 55 Million
Special Report - October 3, 2012
This weekend, pro-life citizens across the United States and Canada will gather on designated sidewalks to participate in the 25th annual National Life Chain to pray for their country and for an end to abortion. In the afternoon on Sunday, October 7, Life Chain participants across the continent will stand 25 to 30 feet apart along sidewalks in solidarity “in honor of 55 million babies whose lives have been lost to abortion.”
In over 50 locations in North Carolina alone, Life Chain participants will gather on sidewalks for 90 minutes in “a visual statement of solidarity by the Christian community that abortion kills children and that the Church supports the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception until natural death.” Participants are encouraged to spend the time in prayer for the nation and those affected by abortion, while offering a peaceful, prayerful public witness in support of the sanctity of human life. Many will hold signs with pre-approved messages, such as “Abortion Kills Children,” “Adoption the Loving Option,” “Jesus Forgives & Heals,” “Abortion Hurts Women,” “Life the first Inalienable Right,” and “Pray to End Abortion.”
Life Chains have been organized in more than 1,800 locations in more than 1,500 cities across the United States and Canada this year. More information on the National Life Chain, including a list of Life Chain locations and coordinators with contact information is available at lifechain.net.
