Congress Investigates Planned Parenthood

Special Report - October 7, 2011

Congress has launched an investigation into questionable practices by the nation’s leading abortion provider, Planned Parenthood. Rep. Cliff Stearns (R–FL), chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, sent a letter on September 15 to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), asking for details related to the group’s finances and policies for reporting sexual abuse. He specifically requested information on the “policies in place and actions undertaken by PPFA and its affiliates related to its use of federal funding and its compliance with federal restrictions on the funding of abortions.” He went on to request details on how PPFA ensures “that all Planned Parenthood clinics report all cases of suspected sexual abuse, including statutory rape, to the proper authorities.”
