"Expelled" Opens April 18
Special Report - April 8, 2008
The new film, “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed,” which opens nationwide on April 18, documents the debate between Darwinism and Intelligent Design (ID) in the academy. The film stars Ben Stein, who is a lawyer, actor, and former presidential speechwriter. In the film, Stein interviews scientists and college faculty who have been censured, denied tenure, or even fired for mentioning ID or questioning the tenets of Darwinism. The film also features interviews with well-known proponents of Darwinism such as Richard Dawkins and PZ Myers.
This persecution, according to Stein, violates the freedom of speech that is guaranteed in the Bill of Rights. “Scientists are supposed to be allowed to follow the evidence wherever it may lead, no matter what the implications are,” according to Stein. He continues, “Freedom of inquiry has been greatly compromised, and this is not only anti-American, it’s anti-science. It’s anti-the whole concept of learning.”
