Cunningham Resigns from State House

Special Report - January 4, 2008

Rep. Pete Cunningham (D-Mecklenburg) has resigned from the North Carolina General Assembly after serving nearly eleven terms in the State House, most recently as Assistant to the Speaker. Citing his age and health concerns, 78-year-old Cunningham officially left office on December 31, 2007, according to the General Assembly website. Local Democratic Party officials will recommend to the Governor a replacement to complete the two-year term in House District 107.
